Job description

Our client is a collaborative not-for-profit organization that is a leading provider in the developmental services sector, dedicated to helping individuals achieve their full potential, be included in the community and build great lives. The organization is looking for passionate people to join their vision and mission!

Are you passionate about organizational success?

The Pod Group is partnering with this amazing organization to place a resourceful, hands-on, and organized individual to fulfill the role of a Resource Consultant.

WHY YOUR ROLE MATTERS🔍

As the Resource Consultant, you will provide oversight of an assigned caseload of licensed child care centres to facilitate the adoption of inclusive programs, provide resources and implement best practices that facilitate the meaningful inclusion of children (0 – 12 years of age) in all aspects of their programs. This is a rewarding opportunity to be part of a dedicated team making a real difference in the community. If you are a compassionate, motivated, and strategic professional looking for purpose-driven work, we want to hear from you.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT🎯

Client Service

  • Complete observations/assessments on children to identify strengths, functional skills, responsiveness, interactions and learning style, and establish whether further referrals are required.
  • Encourage and support classroom educators in implementing strategies for capacity building.
  • Implement strategies with children, in collaboration with educators, using a class-wide approach.
  • Model strategies for educators and/or Inclusion Facilitators as appropriate.
  • Provide assistance/guidance to families in collaboration with educators to develop and facilitate family engagement.
  • Support identified children through the transition to school process in partnership with Licensed Child Care Programs (LCCPs), families and the Boards of Education.
  • Develop Individual Program Plans and support the development of Individual Support Plans as needed.
  • Coordinate meetings/case conferences with community partners and incorporate recommendations from community partners into program plans.
  • Act as a role model and provide educators with resources on inclusion, developmental disabilities, and behaviour management.

Communication

  • Ensure all documentation and reporting are completed as necessary in order to monitor the child’s progress and meet regulatory requirements, including those of the organization, the Ontario Childcare and Early Years Act, and the City of Hamilton.
  • Gather and maintain client records in the organization's database (ShareVision), including but not limited to parent and staff input, direct observations, and professional/clinical assessments.
  • As the primary point of contact, communicate with and support Licensed Childcare Providers through on-site visits, email, and virtual consultations.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation relating to the Individualized Program Plan (IPP) process is maintained as required.

Teamwork

  • Coach and mentor alongside Inclusion Facilitators, providing guidance as needed to deliver seamless service experiences for educators.
  • As required, direct the activities of placement students and ensure the work placement provides a quality learning opportunity and enhanced support to the Special Needs Resourcing team.
  • Participate in Special Needs Resourcing (SNR) projects under the direction of the hiring manager.

Quality

  • Promote and demonstrate the Vision and Mission of the organization.
  • Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, the Child Care and Early Years Act and the College of Early Childhood Educators to continuously improve the safety of the workplace.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING🎓

  • Post-secondary education in Early Childhood Education.
  • A member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
  • Resource Consultant certificate or equivalent.
  • Prior experience working in the child care field with children with disabilities and their families.
  • Certified in First Aid, including infant/child CPR.
  • Knowledge of, and commitment to, the philosophy of inclusion.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Child Care and Early Years Act.
  • Thorough knowledge of child development, developmental disabilities and behaviour management.
  • Able to conduct developmental screening and functional assessments, and develop individual program plans.
  • Excellent observation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • A valid driver’s licence, a clean driver’s abstract and access to a reliable vehicle to facilitate travel to various sites.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate cultural competency with the ability to address service needs for a diverse client group.
