Job description

About the Role - Are you an experienced underwriter at a Senior, Consultant, and High Net worth level. Then this is the role for you. You will analyze, assess risks, and authorize life, critical illness, and disability insurance files where appropriate, offering informed and competitive decisions to our customers in all the company's business lines.

Responsibilities -

  • Analyze a risk, identify key details, and write a summary of the elements that impact the risk involved.
  • Maintain positive relationships and act in partnership with customers, underwriters, and other partners through different means of communication.
  • Establish the rate of excess mortality or morbidity by consulting the company's different sources of reference.
  • Write various reports, correspondences, recommendations and provide advice in implementing these recommendations.
  • Work with our Elite advisors through our special programs and be part of our High-Net-worth Team.
  • Participate in the development of junior underwriters and help achieve the department priorities and objectives.
  • Collaborate in the search for continuous improvement in relation to activities related to processes and work in collaboration with peers.
  • Engage in continuous learning, follow industry trends and progress.

Qualifications -

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (medical, insurance or other)
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with MGA market outside of Quebec
  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
  • Holds a FLMI, ALU or FALU or other relevant designations recognized by the industry is an asset
  • Knowledge of reinsurance and understanding and applying treaties.
  • Knowledge of financial underwriting.
  • Proficient speaker, complete proficiency in English
