Responsibilities and Duties

  • Test, inspect and maintain signals & communications systems in a light rail transit environment.
  • Verify the proper operation of signals & communications systems and equipment.
  • Investigate locate problems and/or failures and take the proper corrective action.
  • Perform a variety of maintenance work necessary to ensure the equipment and systems components are operating as intended at all times.
  • Replace defective signal and communication equipment and components, as required on an urgent of planned basis.
  • Operate on-track and highway vehicles, as required.
  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting of all required information.
  • Working with and alongside other Maintenance Groups (OCS/TPSS, Track, BSST Maintenance Group).
  • Snow Removal and Grass Maintenance.
  • Rotating shift as we provide a 24/7 coverage, also On-call coverage for emergency response on a rotating basis.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High school graduation.
  • Post-secondary education in electronics, railroad signals certification or equivalent experience is an asset.
  • 3 years’ experience in a related field is required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend drawings and specifications is an asset.
  • Ability to understand, interpret and record technical and non-technical information.
  • Safety minded work ethic.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at elevated heights.
  • Ability to perform a wide range of physical labour (including lifting and/or displacing approximately 60 lbs).
  • Valid “G” driver’s license or higher with clean Drivers Abstract.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
