About The Job
We offer a generalist Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) position with interesting and varied work within all areas of Core with some phlebotomy. The Kootenay Lake Hospital (KLH) has 28 funded acute care beds and offers laboratory and radiology, urgent care, chemotherapy, outpatient ambulatory care, community services, long‑term residential care services, and doctors’ offices.
Typical duties include routine and / or complex tests utilizing manual procedures and automated instruments, greeting patients, collecting and / or receiving specimens, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS), validating / reporting test results, maintaining instruments and preparing solutions and control agents, and performing ECG testing as required. MLT’s at this site assist with the collection of bone marrows, but the sample analysis is performed elsewhere. MLT’s work scheduled day and evening shifts at this site with participation in the on‑call schedule required.
This is a Relief Part Time (0.50) opportunity until the return of the incumbent.
