Job description

Purpose :

The Faculty of Health is committed to creating positive change for our students, our communities, and the world around us through teaching and research excellence to keep more people healthier, longer. It is the second largest Faculty offering various degrees and certificates to undergraduate and graduate students in Global Health, Kinesiology & Health Science, Neuroscience, Nursing, Psychology and Health Policy & Management. Our commitment to excellence is demonstrated through our faculty members who are nationally and internationally recognized experts, through our leading-edge research, and through local and international partnerships to improve health outcomes both locally and globally. Working within a fast paced, changing environment, the Executive Assistant will provide efficient, professional, and confidential support to the Dean, Faculty of Health. Duties are broad and varied. Daily activities involve interaction with all students, faculty, staff and high-level internal and external contacts and exposure to confidential and sensitive information requiring considerable use of initiative, tact, diplomacy, discretion, and excellent judgement. The Executive Assistant assesses the importance and urgency of issues or problems that arise, addresses issues, or alerts the relevant leadership of potential problems or conflicts. The Executive Assistant maintains a commitment to supporting sustainability, equity, diversity, and inclusion at York University. The Executive Assistant will play a key role in planning and disseminating departmental news through various channels including web page, newsletters, etc.

Education :

Post-secondary diploma in a relevant field.

Experience : Skills :

Knowledge

Knowledge of general office procedures and practices.

Working knowledge of managing in a unionized environment and applying a collective

Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.

Effective planning and organizational skills with ability to prioritize workload and meet timelines.

Effective problem identification and conflict resolution skills.

Effective written and oral communication skills.

Skilled in proofreading, editing, and maintaining attention to detail.

Ability to provide excellent service to the community and deal courteously and effectively with people at all levels.

Demonstrated tact and diplomacy in responding to emotional or demanding individuals.
