The Fluid Power Systems Specialist supports Tolko’s Corporate Maintenance & Reliability Team by improving the reliability, performance, and safety of fluid power systems across company assets. This role focuses on identifying and eliminating repeat fluid power systems failures, optimizing maintenance strategies, improving contamination control, and supporting data driven reliability initiatives beyond reactive repair.

We are seeking an experienced and professional Fluid Power Systems Specialist to work collaboratively with trades, reliability engineers, planners, and operations across the organization. This role can be based out of any location we have an office or operating facility. Strong relationships are built on‑site, and this role involves up to % travel, depending on which Tolko office you call home.

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

  • Minimum 8– years in industrial fluid power systems or heavy-duty equipment with a proven track record.
  • Red Seal Millwright, Heavy Duty Mechanic, or Industrial Maintenance Technician OR a diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering (applied focus).
  • Formal training and certification in advanced fluid power systems troubleshooting.

We value diversity at Tolko and respect that experience, and knowledge come in many forms. Even if you don't think you check every box, please apply. We would love to hear your story and have you grow with us.

In this role, you will:

  • Diagnose and resolve chronic and high impact fluid power system failures using failure mode thinking.
  • Identify systemic issues such as contamination, heat, pressure transients, and misapplication.
  • Recommend design, component, or operational changes to prevent failure recurrence.
  • Partner with trades, reliability engineers, planners, and operations to ensure fluid power systems are designed, maintained, and operated for long term reliability.
  • Support equipment commissioning, modification, and improvement efforts.
  • Provide fluid power expertise to all Tolko divisions, advancing continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring effective cross-site knowledge transfer and standardization.
  • Partner with operating environments across Canada and the United States, including dimensional lumber, plywood, OSB, and LVL operations, providing broad exposure and opportunities to make a meaningful impact.

So, what’s in it for you?

  • You’ll take on an exciting challenge with supportive team members.
  • You’ll earn a competitive salary based on your skills and experience. The expected base salary range for this position is $, to $, per year.
  • You will be eligible to participate in Tolko’s bonus program.
  • Competitive benefits and retirement plans come standard, so you don’t have to choose between your bottom line and your wellbeing or your future.
  • Relocation support including community connections so you can live (and play) where you work.
  • Continued professional development through on the job and classroom training and reimbursement of tuition and membership fees.
  • A positive, innovative, and inclusive work environment.
