THE POSITION

The Supply Chain Manager is a dynamic, results-oriented leader responsible for overseeing the end-to-end supply chain, including procurement, materials planning, and inventory flow, to support SMG's manufacturing operations. This role ensures the seamless coordination of supply chain activities to enable production continuity, optimize material flow, and meet customer delivery expectations.

Working closely with engineering, operations, and planning functions, the Supply Chain Manager plays a critical role in maintaining supply reliability, optimizing inventory and working capital, and ensuring strong supplier performance. This role leads the procurement and materials planning team and is accountable for operational execution across the supply chain lifecycle.

HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING AN IMPACT

  • Lead supply chain and procurement operations to ensure timely execution of purchase orders and uninterrupted material supply to support production and delivery schedules.
  • Own end-to-end supply chain performance, ensuring alignment between supplier capability, material availability, and production requirements
  • Oversee and optimize procurement and materials planning processes, ensuring alignment with MRP, production planning, and inventory management best practices
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to balance demand, supply, and inventory strategy, minimizing shortages and supporting efficient production flow
  • Own supplier performance, including delivery, quality, and responsiveness, and collaborate with sourcing to address performance gaps and improve supply reliability
  • Support the successful execution of new product introductions (NPI) by ensuring material readiness and supplier alignment for production launch
  • Monitor and optimize inventory levels, driving improvements in inventory turns, reducing obsolescence, and managing working capital effectively
  • Lead escalation and resolution of supply-related issues, ensuring minimal disruption to operations
  • Support inbound logistics and lead time optimization to improve overall supply chain efficiency
  • Manage and mentor a team of buyers and material planners, fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Ensure compliance with import/export requirements, customs regulations, and applicable trade agreements
  • Leverage data and reporting tools to monitor supply chain performance, identify trends, and drive operational improvements
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements across supply chain activities

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Consistent, uninterrupted production supported by strong material availability and supply chain execution
  • A high-performing supplier base with strong on-time delivery, quality, and responsiveness metrics
  • Balanced supply and demand with optimized inventory levels, improved turns, and reduced obsolescence
  • Supply chain processes that are efficient, scalable, and aligned with production and planning requirements
  • Successful execution of sourcing strategies through reliable and timely supply chain operations
  • Effective cross-functional collaboration resulting in timely issue resolution and improved operational performance
  • A high-performing procurement and materials planning team with clear accountability and strong engagement

WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU REQUIRE

  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 6+ years of experience, including leadership or advanced individual contributor experience
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production planning, MRP systems, and inventory control best practices
  • Proven experience leading supply chain or procurement operations and managing supplier performance in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
  • Solid understanding of financial concepts related to supply chain, including landed cost, standard costing, and working capital impacts
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Professional certifications such as SCMP, CPSM, or CPIM are considered an asset

THE BENEFITS OF BEING PART OF OUR TEAM

Bring your passion and ambition to SMG, and we'll provide an environment where your contributions are recognized, your growth is supported, and your work makes a real impact. We offer a competitive and rewarding total compensation package, including:

  • Starting salary of $120,000/year, negotiable based on experience
  • Annual bonus up to 15% of salary; 50% based on individual performance and 50% based on Company performance
  • Comprehensive group insurance plan with a health spending account
  • Paid Vacation, including a paid company shutdown from Christmas to New Year
  • Matching RRSP program
  • Opportunity for career growth and advancement as SMG continues to expand
  • Opportunity to participate in the Company's Stock Option Program

We would like to thank all applicants who apply, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
