Job Title: SQL Server Data Engineer
Location: Toronto, ON
Duration: 6 Months
Required Skills & Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in data development and/or relevant tools.
- Expertise in MS SQL Server and related tools.
- Advanced knowledge of RDBMS and SQL.
- Proficiency with Stored Procedures and Functions.
- Hands-on experience with DTS or SSIS.
- Experience with VB.NET scripting and understanding of advanced concepts.
- Proficiency with various data formats: XML, CSV, fixed-length, delimited.
- Working knowledge of GitLab, CI/CD, and Artifactory.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Banking and financial domain knowledge (Statements, Canadian Taxes, Cheque Processing).
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with other teams to integrate workflow components.
- Experience working with offshore counterparts and resolving issues.
- Prior work experience at client or in client's Industry.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of banking document development lifecycle (data processing).
- Strong understanding of sorting, bundling, and data aggregation.
- Ability to provide accurate time, resource, and dependency estimates for MS SQL projects.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Analyze highly complex business requirements and generate technical specifications to create data pipelines for applications.
- Create templates for data file pre-processing, parsing, and transformation.
- Leverage industry and client best practices to design, test, implement, and support data solutions.
- Review code changes for applications and perform unit testing.
- Support integration testing and quality assurance activities.
- Debug end-to-end application flow, identify errors, and perform causal analysis.
- Mentor less experienced developers and trainees.
- Conduct daily sync-up calls with the offshore team, resolve issues, and provide ongoing support.
- Assist with creating standards and architecting new client solutions.
- Collaborate with other teams to integrate components and run end-to-end workflows.
