Job description
The Human Resources Generalist will administer the human resources and payroll functions for Indeck Boiler Company. The Generalist is responsible for developing and ensuring effective implementation of plans, systems, policies, and processes for workforce planning, talent acquisition, talent management and development, employee engagement, legal compliance and recordkeeping, compensation, benefits, payroll processing, and employee relations while facilitating a positive relationship between personnel and senior management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Perform the payroll function, ensure timely and accurate tax filings and registrations using HR / Payroll software.
Benefit administration including enrolment and maintenance of employee data, reports.
Lead full-cycle recruitment efforts including, job posting, candidate screening to ensure that the organization is effectively and efficiently sourcing and selecting the right candidates, interview scheduling, communicating with hiring managers, sending offer letters, pre-employment checks and follow up.
Lead the off-boarding process by conducting exit interviews & generate voluntary departure confirmation letters.
Manage labor relations including responding to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, programs, employee complaints / grievances, advise management in appropriate resolution of employee relation issues. Serve as the point of contact for employment relations.
Maintain current knowledge and application of all relevant laws and regulations relating to employment and ensure organizational compliance, including equal opportunity laws, guidelines, and policies. Monitor adherence to internal policies and legal standards.
Oversee the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by law. This includes educating and advising managers and senior leaders on HR-related legal and regulatory matters and ensuring HR programs, practices and policies are aligned.
Ensure that employee files and records are properly and securely maintained.
Counsel management team on union issues, collective agreement application, disciplinary actions, and grievance resolution.
Administration related to safety compliance and incident investigation. Devise strategies for training and development.
Occasional floor walks for employee assistance, connection, and interaction
Respond to internal and external HR related inquiries or requests.
Other HR administrative support duties as assigned.
Qualification / Requirement :
Bilingual in French and English
Bachelor's degree in related field
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Office : Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Knowledge of Nethris (HR / Payroll software)
Knowledge of Synerion (Employee punch system)
In depth knowledge of labor regulations and HR best practices
Established organizational skills, flexibility, and a proven ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines
Must have good communication and writing skills, people skills, detailed-oriented and multi-tasking skills
