Position Details:

Position: Casual Patient Watch Security Guard

Site: Yarmouth Regional Hospital

Hours: Hours may vary site to site (example Days, Nights, Rotating Shifts)

Payrate: $ 20.50/hour

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide continuous observation of assigned patients to ensure safety and prevent self-harm or injury.
  • Monitor and report any unusual behavior, incidents, or safety concerns to clinical and security staff.
  • Maintain a respectful and non-invasive presence while observing patients.
  • Work closely with healthcare professionals, following facility protocols and directions.
  • De-escalate situations calmly and appropriately using non-violent crisis intervention techniques.
  • Document observations and incidents accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to patient confidentiality regulations at all times.

Prerequisites:

  • Valid Intermediate First Aid & CPR Level C from CSA Approved provider.
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must
  • Previous experience in security or a related field preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to stay alert and attentive for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in high-stress environments and remain composed under pressure.
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods and respond quickly in emergency situations.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) are pre-requisites of this position. Prior training certifications may be accepted on a case-by-case basis
  • Applicants lacking acceptable certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the positionPlease be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
