The Shop Production Manager is responsible for ensuring that the production schedule is met through the effective direction and management of labour, materials, as well as safety, production and scheduling of subcontractors and other service providers.
Note : Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 825 Admirals Road, Victoria.
What you’ll do
- Provides direction to a diverse, complex, and technical workforce in a union environment.
- Effectively and efficiently executes the production schedule on ship repair, maintenance and upgrade work.
- Ensures that the required safety and environmental policies and procedures are followed.
- Monitors the specified staffing levels during the project and recommend adjustments as necessary.
- Reviews project data and takes necessary actions to ensure adherence to schedule.
- Identifies and resolves production issues throughout the life of the project.
- Ensures that customer specifications, drawings, diagrams and other technical information are communicated to and understood by the workforce.
- Manages and directs subcontracted work.
- Maintains control over production costs.
- Ensures completion of additional work.
- Follows shipyard policies, procedures, and systems.
- Ensures initiatives for continuous improvements per assigned lessons learned actions are followed.
- Assists the Project Manager in the control and update of production schedules.
- Other duties as assigned.

The estimated salary for this position is $122,700 - $147,200. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
