Project Name : Zero Trust Project
Scope :
The resource will be responsible for Planning, Implementing, and supporting the F5 Web Access Firewall (WAF). The F5 (WAF) plays a critical role in Zero Trust security architecture by helping to secure web applications and protect against various web-based threats. The F5 WAF ensures that only authorized, authenticated, and validated users and devices are allowed to access specific applications, regardless of their location within or outside the network. The Zero trust Project is a part of the Tech debt Program which serves to mitigate risks and vulnerabilities of the identified 66 critical applications of GOA.
Duties :
Planning, Implementing, and daily operations of the F5 Web Access Firewall (WAF).
The candidate will be responsible for implementing, modernizing, managing and supporting our network infrastructure, along with proactive monitoring, analysis and reporting.
achieve a high availability IT network infrastructure and IT network services, in accordance with the government of Alberta, Technology Services, Service Level Agreements.
hands-on implementation, upgrading, trouble-shooting of network software and hardware infrastructure.
manage and prioritize workload. Check and balance the workload against the team requirements, to result in a service delivery model characterized by cross-training, workload sharing and collaborative team effort.
effective teamwork and proficient communication with team members and supported ministries.
lead and / or participate in networking projects, and plan, design, implement, support and document best practices.
participate and contribute to cross-function IT projects by providing technical IT networking know-how and expertise.
perform problem diagnosis, troubleshooting and resolution.
plan for software and hardware upgrades and / or migrations.
develop and maintain documentation.
develop network related procedures.
provide cross training and knowledge transfer to team members.
Equipment requirements :
GoA will supply laptop
Working Hours :
Standard Hours of work are 08 : 15 16 : 30 Alberta time, Monday through Friday excluding holidays observed by the Province
Work must be done from within Canada, due to network and data security issues.
It is anticipated the role will be primarily hybrid, however in the event of an onsite meeting, the GoA does not pay for travel to attend on-site meetings, nor any expenses related to relocation, commuting, housing / accommodation, food / drink.
Notes on Location :
The resource will work in a hybrid model, with in-office work on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, and remote work on Thursdays and Fridays. The resource must also be available for onsite meetings when required.
Onsite meetings may include, but are not limited to, strategic, architectural, and technical discussions, as well as meetings with team members, senior managers, directors, executive directors, and business clients. The frequency of these meetings could be up to 3-4 times per month.
The successful candidate may work from either JGO in Edmonton or JJB in Calgary.

Incumbency :
This is a net new role.
Enhanced Background check required
A standard criminal record check will be required before we start the Enhanced Security Clearance process.
An Enhanced Security Clearance will be required for this position, which will be coordinated by GoA only for this position.
Mandatory Training Courses :
Once hired the resource will be required to complete all mandatory training which includes but not limited to Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and Security awareness training. There may also be some optional courses as well.
