Overview
SGS is currently looking for Senior Safety Inspectors in multiple locations. Work will be assigned on an as-needed basis and will be paid for the hours / days and other applicable cost items for the time spent on the assigned work. The work duration could be a day, several days or several weeks.
The Senior Safety Inspector is the Company’s authorized representative for non-financial matters and is to inspect and coordinate safety on all construction projects to ensure conformance with the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Standard and other Company safety-related policies, specifications, and requirements. The Inspector shall validate compliance to company specifications and standards, contractor safety documents (including, but not limited to, the Project / Site-Specific Safety Plan (P / SSSP), Emergency Response Plan (ERP), and other contractor hazard control plans) within their Safety Management System.
Responsibilities
- Perform Pre-Construction Activities : interface with the Project Management Team (PMT) to understand the project scope of work, assist in performing Pre-Construction Hazard Assessments (PCHA), participate in Project Kickoff meetings, and be familiar with applicable Standards and Specifications for the project SOW.
- Provide Contractor Oversight During Construction : support the Contractor Safety Management Team (CSMT) and Construction Manager (CM); liaise with Field Safety Specialist (FSS) and the contractor site safety representative; verify the contractor’s implementation of their P / SSSP, ERP, and other hazard control plans; review contractor Safe Work Practices & Job Safety / Hazard Analysis; identify and mitigate hazards to prevent Significant Injuries & Fatalities (SIF); complete worksite inspections and ensure corrective actions; complete daily safety reports and safety-related documentation; verify corrective actions are implemented; conduct site-specific safety orientations; use stop work authority when needed; provide safety leadership and foster a proactive safety culture; conduct safety walkdowns and participate in safety meetings; report incidents and near misses; develop corrective action plans; participate in incident prevention and investigations; provide safety bulletins and maintain safety documents.
- Participate in project meetings and ensure all safety incidents are reported; support development of critical safety alerts and lessons learned.
- Identify innovation and value creation opportunities related to construction safety.
- Additional tasks as required.
