We are looking for a collection of education, experience, and skills that will help us learn and grow as an organization. The library is currently in the process of developing its information literacy instruction model and this position provides an opportunity to co-create a new model. Student success is central to our strategic framework, and we are actively participating in the university’s goals and mission.UNF Library is seeking a dynamic and creative librarian to fill the position of Research and Instruction Librarian. The core responsibilities of this position include five main areas of focus : information literacy instruction, collection management, reference and research assistance, scholarship, and serviceResponsibilitiesInformation Literacy Instruction includes the following activities : collaborating with faculty and library staff to create and maintain a student-centered information literacy curriculum.developing and teaching course-integrated library instruction sessions for classes across the campus disciplines, both in person and online (synchronous and asynchronous)other opportunities for information literacy instruction, such as embedding in specific courses and creation of digital learning objectsproviding training session for Library staff on range of IL topics, pedagogy, tools, etc.Collection Management includes : developing and maintaining a collection of electronic resources that support the teaching and research needs of the UNF community.Evaluating, recommending, and selecting materials.promoting the use of these collections through communication with departments and through subject-specific instruction.Reference and Research Assistance includes : scheduled Services Desk shifts to provide circulation and reference assistance, in person, over email and via "Chat with Us" chat serviceone-on-one research consultations to provide in depth research support to undergraduate and graduate studentscollaborating with faculty and library staff to create and maintain a student-centered information literacy curriculum.developing and teaching course-integrated library instruction sessions for classes across the campus disciplines, both in person and online (synchronous and asynchronous)other opportunities for information literacy instruction, such as embedding in specific courses and creation of digital learning objectsproviding training session for Library staff on range of IL topics, pedagogy, tools, etc.Scholarship may include : publishing peer-reviewed papers in appropriate journals.publishing non-refereed articles in relevant library literature.developing workshops, giving presentations and presenting papers at appropriate library conferences given by professional organizations.developing workshops, giving presentations and presenting to UNF community.Service includes : membership and leadership on library committees, university committees, or committees in professional organizations.Qualifications and ExperienceKnowledge of Open Educational Resources (OERs) and their benefits, challenges, and applications in academic environments.Knowledge and experience with Ebsco.Experience supporting both undergraduate and graduate academic programsResource and instruction experience in wide range of programs, including Business, Management or BioMed courses, but not limited to those.Experience using tutorial creation software packages is highly desiredCommitment to scholarship, service, and ongoing professional growth and development.Demonstrates effective prioritization and decision-making in a fast-paced environmentPossesses creative problem-solving abilities and is service-orientedDisplays a strong student-centric and inclusive orientationEffective verbal and written communication skillsExcellent time management and organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines is essentialEducation and ExperienceMaster’s degree in Library and Information Sciences from an ALA-accredited library school or equivalent is requiredAt least one to three years' experience of reference service and Information Literacy instruction is required, preferably in an academic libraryWorking knowledge of face-to-face and online pedagogy, and teaching and learning strategies at the university levelKnowledge of the ACRL Information Literacy Framework.Demonstrated ability to initiate, plan and carry out projects, both independently and as a member of a team.Knowledge of current technologies such as LibGuides, media creation, reference chat, social media, etc.Use of AI DisclosureUniversity of Niagara Falls Canada (UNF), UNF is committed to a fair and transparent recruitment process.
