This position will report to the Director of Human Resources and based in their Steinbach head office.
Key Responsibilities :
Manage the human resources department.
Oversee employee management, including wage increases, promotions, and disciplinary actions in compliance with company policies.
Be involved with office staffing requirements and oversee the recruitment process.
Work with our project teams to manage on-site optimal staffing requirements including recruitment, transfers, layoffs, terminations.
Participate with all union related tasks including negotiation, compliance, disciplinary action, grievances and any other items that arise from our employees and the collective bargaining agreement.
Develop performance goals, metrics, and targets that are consistent with company goals and to create growth and opportunity for employees.
Determine areas of improvement for employees, providing additional training as needed.
Oversee the safety department including training, procedures, audits, and compliance.
Develop strategic performance metrics and targets that are consistent with company goals.
Ensure employees have clear goals and are aware of expectations.
Handle employee complaints and incidents, including conflict resolution, accidents, health and safety concerns, work refusals, and investigations.
Provide leadership and coaching to managers and employees on key workplace matters such as performance management, difficult conversations, employee relations, and employee development.
Work together with the payroll department on new hires, employee information, remittances, lay-off notices, wage increases.
Develop company policies as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
A passion for developing people and being able to make tough decisions.
Able to recognize individual strengths and weaknesses, personality, and create optimal team dynamics.
Degree or diploma in business administration, human resources management, or a related field required.
Minimum of (5) years of work experience in a human resources position.
Demonstrated ability to meet strategic objectives for HR and the organization.
Demonstrated ability to manage HR core processes such as employee management, development, and labour relations.
Able to make sound business decisions and evidence based recommendations to senior management.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Strong working skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
Understand labour laws and other related legislation.
Understanding of the construction industry is an asset.
Compensation and Benefits :
The discussed salary range is $80,000-$95,000, depending upon qualifications and experience, plus bonus.
