  • Develops reliability simulations and modelling to support predictions of asset replacement / maintenance and associated costs
  • Works with asset owners to build standardized approaches around RCA (root cause analysis), FRACAS (failure reporting, analysis and corrective action system) and FMECA (failure mode, effects and criticality analysis) methodologies / templates
  • Consults with asset owners to investigate asset failure and develops engineering solutions that address identified areas for improvement for repetitive asset failures and other maintenance problems to reduce the need for maintenance while improving costs and reliability
  • Continuously monitors failure data and unplanned incidences to assess asset performance and recommends data-driven strategies for improvement
  • Maps and analyzes failure and maintenance cost data to identify risks and opportunities for improvement and investigates to determine the required approach to remedy problems with consideration given to cost limitations for equipment / service uptime / downtime and repair / replacement costs
  • Adds insight and reliability expertise to the development of strategies and asset life-cycle management plans for improving equipment / service reliability and process reliability that minimizes risk of failure
  • Conducts reliability centered maintenance (RCM) analysis to develop and recommend improvements to predictive and proactive maintenance programs / processes to increase cost effectiveness
  • Audits and reports on the overall success of reliability improvement initiatives
  • Tracks reliability metrics through metrics dashboards to report reliability performance and to verify that continuous improvement is occurring
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of best practices (tasks, methods, tools, analysis, and tests) for reliability assessment and for reliability centered maintenance
  • Researches and evaluates new and innovative predictive maintenance methodologies (. RCM) that may be used to improve the reliability and maintenance of assets, and reduce in-service equipment failures
  • Utilize statistically analysis (Weibull) of failure data to develop reliability models to support continuous improvement initiatives and capital projects
  • Continuously monitors and reports on asset and system RAMS performance (with drivers and trends) to assure accountability for meeting RAMS requirements
  • Works with asset owners to evaluate asset performance by examining and trending the results of condition-monitoring activities, reviewing asset failures, analyzing availability / reliability information
  • Equips asset owners with the knowledge, concepts, and skills to ensure consistency in analyzing and mitigating equipment / system failures
  • Builds relationships with contractors and other third-party suppliers to establish trust and credibility in the delivery of asset reliability and performance expertise and services
  • Develops and evaluates key performance indicators (KPI’s) to monitor the effectiveness of the maintenance programs and recommends changes to mitigate negative trends; recommends KPIs and metrics to assess the present state at any given time for the purpose of increasing performance and reducing life cycle costs
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge in area of RAMS including performance evaluation, diagnostic and predictive analysis
  • Proactively seeks to understand failures that affected or could affect reliability, availability, maintainability and safety of Metrolinx’ assets
  • Focuses on optimizing asset performance through the championing of reliability engineering best practices and improving predictive and preventive maintenance practices and procedures
  • Identifies and recommends engineering solutions to physical asset reliability and performance problems and to meet Metrolinx’ business needs
