Training
The initial training is Basic Military Qualification at the Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, covering physical fitness and basic skills. Signal Operators then attend the Canadian Forces School of Communication and Electronics in Kingston, Ontario, for approximately 19 weeks, learning about communication security, tactical systems, radio, satellite, and microwave communications. Advanced courses and on-the-job training are available for specialized skills and leadership development.
Part-time options
Part-time employment is available through the Primary Reserve at various locations. Reservists serve in their communities, can study or work civilian jobs, and may volunteer for deployments. They are paid at 92.8% of Regular Force pay, with benefits and pension contributions.
