Role Summary
This is an exciting 9 month contract opportunity to experience the role of a Program Buyer in a fast paced and supportive purchasing team. The Program Buyer is responsible for the sourcing and management of prototype tooling, production tooling, assembly capital, direct buy, steel and purchased components. The Program Buyer works integrally with the Presstran Engineering, Materials and Quality Teams in order to ensure successful launches of new products and tools. The incumbent creates, distributes, collects, and recommends all program related suppliers in conjunction with the best overall business case. We are looking for someone eager to learn, develop their skills and who can multitask multiple demands on their time to be part of this integral team at Magna, Presstran division.
Key Qualifications / Requirements
- Post-secondary Degree / Diploma in Business Administration and / or Supply Chain Management. Engineering experience / background would be a definite asset.
- New graduates are welcome to apply, previous experience will be considered an asset.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, Solarsoft IVP). Experience with advanced spreadsheets (Excel) and financial modeling would be a definite asset.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Program / Project management experience would be a definite asset.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work to meet deadlines and multiple demands.
- Ability to uphold confidentiality.
- Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs.
- Eligible to travel outside of Canada with a required valid passport.

EQUIPMENT and / or PRODUCT FAMILIARITY :
Equipment : PC, printer, keyboard, telephone, photo copier
Product : General and specific familiarity with a broad range of products
Software : AS / 400 reporting and EDI software (as required), MS Office, SolarSoft iVP, etc.
RESPONSIBILITY AND WORKING CONDITIONS :
Under the general direction of the department leader the Program Buyer has many varied contacts both internally and externally. The incumbent requires excellent communication skills both written and verbal to exchange / collect information and negotiate with vendors. The incumbent works in an office environment. The Program Buyer must be highly organized as the purchasing environment is subject to many work distractions.
