Public safety director Jobs in Halifax, NS

We are seeking a Director of Safety to lead and manage all safety-related initiatives across our construction operations. This role will ensure compliance with safety regulations, promote a culture of safety, and minimize risks for employees and our subcontractors. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with a deep understanding of safety in construction environments and a passion for continuous improvement.

Duties :

• Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Lead, Coach and Manage the entire safety department and direct reports.
• Liaison any conditions with department of labor as applicable.
• Collaborate in developing and managing the safety budget and performance goals aligned with strategic objectives.
• Monitor and analyze safety metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Provide leadership and guidance to site teams, fostering a culture of safety awareness and accountability.
• Prepare and present reports on safety performance to senior management.
• Collaborate with the HR and senior management team to ensure optimal return-to-work practices, risk reduction and employee wellbeing.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes.
