We are seeking a Director of Safety to lead and manage all safety-related initiatives across our construction operations. This role will ensure compliance with safety regulations, promote a culture of safety, and minimize risks for employees and our subcontractors. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with a deep understanding of safety in construction environments and a passion for continuous improvement.
Duties :
Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs.
Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Lead, Coach and Manage the entire safety department and direct reports.
Liaison any conditions with department of labor as applicable.
Collaborate in developing and managing the safety budget and performance goals aligned with strategic objectives.
Monitor and analyze safety metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Provide leadership and guidance to site teams, fostering a culture of safety awareness and accountability.
Prepare and present reports on safety performance to senior management.
Collaborate with the HR and senior management team to ensure optimal return-to-work practices, risk reduction and employee wellbeing.
Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes.
Your experience & abilities
Bachelor’s degree in OHS, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Certifications such as NSCO (National Construction Safety Officer), CSP (Certified Safety Professional), or equivalent.
10+ years of experience in construction safety, on residential and commercial projects.
Proven leadership experience in safety program management.
Strong knowledge of OHSA standards and other applicable safety regulations.
Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to effectively train and mentor diverse teams.
Proficiency in safety management software and tools.
Strong team management abilities, with the capacity to motivate and inspire a diverse project team.
