Description : Your Opportunity :
Professor Vina Goghari, in the Department of Psychology at the University of Toronto Scarborough, invites applicants for the position of Research Associate (Limited Term) to conduct collaborative research in clinical and cognitive neuroscience. The primary research focus is on investigating the neural mechanisms of cognitive functions such as cognitive control and fluid reasoning in healthy individuals and in people with psychiatric disorders. The research involves the use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques, psychological and cognitive assessments, surveys, and systematic literature reviews and meta-analyses.
This opportunity of a Research Associate (Limited Term) is a one-year term appointment. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2025.

Job Duties :
The successful candidate will be responsible for the conceptualization, design, planning, and execution of research under the direction of Professor Vina Goghari. The successful candidate will also be responsible for conducting literature reviews, writing ethics protocols, preparing grant applications, analyzing data using SPSS, Microsoft Excel and other software applications, preparing research presentations, attending conferences to present research, and writing, reviewing, and editing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals. The successful candidate is expected to support the overall research and teaching mission of Professor Vina Goghari.
Qualifications (Minimum Qualifications) :
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in psychology, neuroscience or a related field and at least two (2) years of postdoctoral experience with demonstrated academic and research excellence through first-author publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals in psychology, neuroscience and / or related fields. Candidates must also have expertise in cognitive psychology, neuropsychology, or cognitive neuroscience. Candidates must have familiarity with functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) as well as previous experience with conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses of fMRI studies. Candidates must have a proven track record of conducting studies on the neural mechanisms of cognition in healthy individuals and / or in clinical populations, preferably people with psychiatric disorders. In addition, candidates must have experience with preparing manuscripts for submission to peer-review journals in psychology, neuroscience, and / or related fields as well as previous experience with preparing ethics protocols, writing research proposals for grant applications, preparing research presentations, presenting research at scientific conferences, and analyzing data using SPSS and Microsoft Excel. Experience with software applications such as R, MATLAB, FSL, and GingerALE are preferred but not required. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
Travel :
Limited travelling will be required. The Research Associate will be expected to present research at academic conferences.
