Description:
As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:This is a working level position utilizing technical skills & judgment performing a diverse range of diagnostic procedures within the Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Transfusion Medicine, & Specimen Procurement departments, within the scope of practice of a MLT. The position includes days, evenings, weekends & on-call with a 30 minute response time. Current experience in Biochemistry, Hematology, & Transfusion Medicine required. The ability to effectively communicate in English. Good organizational, interpersonal & communication skills. Ability to assume responsibility, working independently & promote good teamwork, under pressure and in emergency situations. Demonstrated initiative, good judgment, attention to detail, & adaptable. Ability to demonstrate tact & courtesy in dealing with patients, staff, & physicians. Practices effective infection control, & safety techniques as applicable. Proficient computer skills. Demonstrated desire & actions to further own knowledge relating to profession. Has the ability to prioritize workload & adapt to stressful situations using tact & diplomacy. Ability to interpret, explain and apply applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures. Evidence of CSMLS certification may be required.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in the past two years: Connect Care LIS: Epic and Wellsky experience and knowledge. Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Current phlebotomy experience. Working with; Vitros XT 3400, Dxh600, ACL Elite Pro, ISTAT, Triage, Ortho Gel method, Access II.
