Nestled 58kms southwest of Calgary in beautiful Diamond Valley, Alberta, the vibrant Oilfields General Hospital offers an excellent rural nursing opportunity in a unique and diverse Alberta Health Services care facility. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Acute Care works in a Patient Family Centered Care environment that focuses on meeting the comprehensive and complex care needs of the patients and their families in a home like setting. Along with working on the 15-bed medical unit the LPN will be working in the Emergency Department. The LPN will work collaboratively with a variety of disciplines including RNs, Health Care Aides, Rehabilitation Staff, Recreation Therapy, Pharmacy and the Physicians group with the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health. The LPN provides leadership through assessment, planning, implementation and ongoing evaluation of patient care. The LPN actively engages in health promotion, chronic disease management and enhancing the patient’s activities of daily living.
Description :
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Required Qualifications :
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications :
1-year recent experience up to full time equivalent in a similar acute care setting. Demonstrated Nursing experience in a leadership role required Demonstrated time management and organizational skills. Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as member of a care team. Demonstrated critical thinking, effective decision making and conflict resolution skills The LPN requires the ability to tolerate constant walking, standing, kneeling, bending, reaching and sustaining posture within a fast-paced unit requiring lifting, pushing, pulling of objects greater than 50lbs.
