Purpose
The Senior Portfolio Analyst is responsible for
- Overall support to the PIC Centralized Investment Advisory team which includes direct senior portfolio management support to Director, Supervising Portfolio Manager and Portfolio Managers, and project management and administrative support to the team and business stakeholders.
Major Accountabilities
1. Portfolio Management Support
Conducting preliminary portfolio assessment, research, and pull information and data from various available sources to assist Portfolio Managers (Zephyr / Bloomberg / Morningstar and / or Thompson 1)Prepare, create and customize various internal reports (Power BI / MS Forms / MS List).Extrapolate research reports from various sources to assist in KYP for "Suitability Assessment" by the registrants. Providing input to the portfolio analysis and recommendation process (process enhancement)Preparing client packages, charts, tables to request and document information (Power Point decks incorporating analysis)Actively support the implementation of client wealth strategies through detailed and accurate management of portfolio administration tasks and activitiesResolving issues expeditiously and accurately and / or escalating problem situations when appropriateReviewing processes and providing recommendations to add value and enhance efficiencies through implementation of best practices and ongoing process reengineeringAdministrative items that support portfolio management activities.Accurate management of client information and data through use and knowledge of applicable systems2. Project Management
Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal database, driving insights and developing recommendations to Portfolio Managers (pro-actively identifying offside accounts)Lever data to form and enable insight that help the CRIA WAAP and RAP Leadership in decision making in order to enhance business objectivesParticipate in technology improvement initiatives that result in positive business results and measurable goal achievementWork with internal partners to establish initiative objectives and scope to define the change initiative approach and workplanParticipation in ad hoc projects that support efficient service delivery, enhance management reporting, and / or mitigate risk.Create and manages plans from initiating, planning, executing assigned projects and relevant deliverables to sustainment phasesDevelop effective communication plan to ensure impacted partners group at all levels are clearly addressed of the changes and associated impacts in all aspectsFacilitate team interactions and initiatives on key activities and project planning aimed at sharing knowledge3. Risk Management / Compliance
Minimizing the Bank's exposure to risk by maintaining awareness and ensuring compliance / adherence to all procedures, regulatory activities and guidelines including Privacy, Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorist Financing, FCAC, Know your Client, Occupational Health & Safety and Guidelines for Business ConductSupporting the Portfolio Managers in maintaining client portfolios in accordance with established firm strategy which includes, utilizing the Central Portfolio Models and pools, focusing on client segmentation and client's risk appetiteParticipating in all aspects of compliance and the identification of actions or changes in policy and / or procedures in order to remediate non-compliance in the business.Escalating issues to the Portfolio Managers and or Governance & Operations Manager as appropriateAdhering to bank and firm standards, policies and business practices to ensure that Private Investment Counsel is meeting the appropriate regulatory and compliance requirements as they relate to both new and existing accountsEscalating, documenting and reporting any unusual occurrences, suspicious or fraudulent activities, as per established procedures4. Team Membership :
Using strong knowledge of the Bank's, Scotia Wealth and Private Investment Counsel diverse products and services, to ensure the Portfolio Managers' needs are well understood, documented and satisfiedEffectively communicate and build rapport with team members, stakeholders and business partnersContributing to the effective functioning of the Private Investment Counsel teamFostering and developing a strong, positive team environment, driving employee empowerment, innovation and a high degree of engagementFacilitating a culture of open and honest communicationActively participating and contributing to coaching sessions, touch bases and team meetingsEncouraging the generation of new ideas and approachesActively sharing knowledge and experience to enhance the development of all team membersDeveloping and executing a meaningful employee development plan.Functional competencies
