Your role in achieving results:
The Maintenance Team at Agropur’s Québec City plant is seeking an Automation Advisor. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Automation Technical Advisor is responsible for ensuring the proper operation and long-term health of the plant’s automated systems. In day-to-day activities, the role supports production operations in addressing various issues and implements corrective actions on PLCs, operator interfaces, and control panels. The advisor must be able to diagnose electrical problems and understand and modify complex process programming (HMI/PLC).
Act as the plant’s technical reference for automation, instrumentation, and the understanding of automated process operations.
Perform or request modifications to the plant’s various automated systems (PLC/HMI/control circuits).
Carry out troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and/or corrective maintenance on systems or processes (control circuits and automation).
Develop procedures for troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and/or corrective maintenance on systems or processes.
Support and train the electromechanics team in diagnostics and the effective use of work tools.
Perform and oversee updates to documentation related to automated systems (HACCP program management protocols, software updates, electrical drawings, technical documentation, etc.).
Participate in, advise, and support the capital projects team regarding modifications to automated manufacturing processes, and follow up throughout project execution.
Actively participate in the development of plant automation and instrumentation standards.
What we are looking for to deliver these results:
Hold a Diploma of College Studies (DCS/DEC) in Instrumentation and Automation and/or Electrodynamics, or an equivalent qualification. Any relevant equivalent experience will be considered.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in an automated industrial environment, including hands-on achievements in instrumentation and programming. (Food processing or liquid processes are an asset.)
Strong proficiency in industrial instrumentation (flow meters, conductivity meters, pH meters, turbidity meters, variable frequency drives, pressure and temperature sensors, etc.).
Proficiency in programming Rockwell Automation platforms (Logix & Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View) and Siemens (Step 7).
Good knowledge of Wonderware ArchestrA operator interfaces (an asset).
Knowledge of AutoCAD software (an asset).
Availability for on-call service on a rotating basis with other team members (paid).
