Job descriptionSupporting pharmacists in providing specialized care for Long Term Care (LTC), private and group homes. Processing refills, triaging emails and calls, serving front store customers. Data entry, receiving prescriptions, batch filling, billing, and adjudication. Preparing and finalizing medical prescriptions. Overseeing compounding, training, quality improvement, supply management, and auditing narcotics and control reports. Conducting care home visits for pickups, refills, audits, ward stock management, and contingency medications. Independently preparing and processing prescriptions, including compounding and transferring prescriptions. Receiving verbal prescriptions, final checks, and patient education on health aids and devices. Certifying drug orders, reviewing prescriptions, and taking medication histories. Performing point-of-care testing, device teaching, and technical checks. Managing inventory, participating in audits, and ensuring medication safety and confidentiality. Participating in professional development and complying with safety legislation. Supporting pharmacy staff and ensuring quality assurance. Assisting patients with insurance and medication management queries. Recognizing and responding to unusual drug distribution patterns and ensuring safe medication availability. Other duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager. Licensed Pharmacy Technician in Manitoba. Pharmacy Technician Certificate from a CCAPP-accredited institution. Retail pharmacy experience is an asset. Kroll software experience is an asset. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask. Professional communication skills with customers and colleagues. Must complete a Criminal Record Check due to the position’s sensitive nature. Job Description
Reporting to the Store Operator / Pharmacy Manager and under the supervision of a pharmacist, this position will practice in collaboration with pharmacists to provide the best possible pharmacy services to our patients. The Pharmacy Technician’s primary role is to ensure prescriptions are filled correctly, including medication accuracy, administration, and inventory management. They will transcribe verbal orders, transfer prescriptions, and check on the technical aspects of prescriptions, exercising professional judgment and recognizing when a pharmacist’s expertise is required.
- 32 to 40 hours per week.
- The store is open Monday to Thursday from 8 : 00 a.m. to 6 : 00 p.m., Friday from 8 : 00 a.m. to 7 : 00 p.m., and Saturday from 9 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m.
- Shifts will typically fall within these hours, with occasional weekend shifts required.
