Role Overview :
Reporting to the Vice President of People & Culture, this individual is responsible for the full payroll cycle and all activities that flow from it. In addition to being responsible for payroll, she manages and monitors all benefits (insurance, pension plan and CSST). She acts as the contact person for all questions relating to payroll and benefits and ensures compliance with the laws and regulations of the various Canadian provinces and the United States.
Main responsibilities :
Act as a resource person for all questions related to payroll and benefits
Ensure proper time entry and proper approval of timesheets
Process regular employee payroll as well as other compensation elements that are processed through payroll (reimbursement of expense accounts, commissions, bonuses, per diems, etc.)
Prepare government remittances (Canadian provinces, United States)
Support managers when they have questions related to their employees' timesheets and payroll
Produce employment records for all employees
Ensure the year-end process (T4, Relevé 1, SST as well as the necessary documents for other locations where our employees live)
Produce various financial reports related to payroll and benefits
Participate in the fiscal and calendar year-end process
Actively support the Vice President in the management of our external partners (group insurance program, pension plan, CSST, etc.)
Ensure the monitoring of salary insurance files and work accident files
Actively participate in the implementation of an RRSP program with employer contribution and ensure its complete management
Evaluate payroll processes as well as benefits management, in order to make the necessary recommendations to optimize processes and make managers more autonomous
Actively participate in the sound use of the HR system to facilitate payroll processing
Perform any other task related to the functions, as needed.
Qualifications and Experience :
BAC in a relevant discipline (administration, accounting, human resources management, etc.)
Member of the Canadian Payroll Association is required (National Payroll Institute)
5 to 8 years of experience in payroll and benefits management, ideally within an SME
Experience in group insurance, pension plan and CSST management
Excellent knowledge of a computerized payroll system (we use ADP)
Experience in international payroll processing is an asset
Knowledge of the Google suite is an asset
Spoken and written bilingualism (French and English). The person must be able to communicate in English (written and oral) since we have employees outside Quebec
Knowledge of the various Canadian and US provincial legislation (an asset)
Autonomy and excellent work organization for priority management
Very high rigor and attention to detail
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
