Job descriptionMust be currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary co-op program and eligible for a May - August 2026 work term Education or prior experience in baking, pastry, or culinary arts is required Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, production-focused environment Strong attention to detail, including precise measurements and documentation Ability to follow recipes, procedures, and directions accurately Comfortable standing and walking for extended periods and lifting up to 40 lbs Full-time hours for the duration of the co-op term Morning, afternoon, and evening shifts may be required Work may be performed in temperature-controlled production environments

Position Overview
Demetres is seeking Baker / Pastry Cook Summer Co-Op Students to join our Central Bakery team for the May - August 2026 work term. This is a hands-on opportunity for students looking to gain practical experience in a professional production environment supporting one of Canada’s most recognized dessert brands.
As part of the bakery team, you will assist with daily preparation, baking, and production of cakes, desserts, batters, doughs, and ice creams that are enjoyed by guests across Demetres, Scooped by Demetres and grocery stores across Ontario.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, scale, mix, bake, and make different kinds of cakes, batters, doughs, pastries and ice creams
- Set up, maintain, and clean your stations & equipment (mixers, work areas, etc)
- Prep ingredients, organize and conduct lot tracking for traceability
- Ensure items are made consistently, on time and perfectly each time
- Maintain both workplace safety and food safety at all times
