Job descriptionThe General Manager is responsible for all aspects of divisional operations: sales, production, human resources, quality, and financial performance. A true operational leader, this person ensures the achievement of productivity and quality targets while driving a culture of continuous improvement. This role is central to the company’s growth strategy. This is a unionized facility with a positive and cooperative relationship with the United Steelworkers Union. The Responsibilities - Develop an intimate understanding of the business, product lines, and operations - Work with VP Sales to develop and execute a growth strategy including sales and operational targets, business objectives, and financial plans that will lead to improved performance. - Develop, leverage, and maintain strong working relationships with customers, employees, and ownership - Continuously improve organizational efficiency both in the administrative/office side of the business and in the plant - Recruit, onboard, coach, and evaluate all team members - Develop employee skills and potential through hands-on mentorship and structured feedback - Foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture focused on collective performance - Manage unions, scheduling, attendance, conflicts, and disciplinary actions in line with HR policies - Ensure clear, effective communication between shop floor teams and senior management - Manage the division's operating budget and report on variances to senior leadership - Optimize production costs across raw materials, labour, subcontracting, and equipment - Analyze financial indicators (unit costs, project margins, productivity) and drive action plans - Contribute to the quoting process by providing accurate data on capacity and production costs - Support capital investment decisions through rigorous return-on-investment analysis Experience, Qualifications & Attributes - Bilingual French/English is required - Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field an asset - Minimum 8–10 years of manufacturing experience, including at least 5 years in team management - Strong people leader, capable of engaging a unionized workforce - Experience in stainless steel fabrication, welding, forming, or machining is a strong asset - Knowledge of ISO 9001, ASME, CWB standards and precision manufacturing practices - Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methodologies (certification an asset) - Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications - Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and the Microsoft Office suite We thank all interested parties but only those selected will be contacted to move forward.
