Who We're Looking For
We’re looking for a Producer to shape and strengthen the CityNews brand. They will be a leader within our news operation and help transition our content to better engage and build our audiences. Various producing responsibilities will form a regular part of the work, including but not limited to lining up newscasts, vetting scripts and taking shows to air. The position will require evenings and weekends.
What You Will Do
- Vet stories and ensure our journalism adheres to the principles laid out in the Rogers Sports and Media News Policy
- Participate in story meetings to assign reporters and content creators to cover daily news events and deliver impactful coverage
- Line‑up shows using our newsroom management systems and take our newscasts to air while leading a team of editorial and production staff
- Provide guidance and coaching to colleagues who are still developing their writing, editing and technical broadcast skills
- Navigate and address editorial issues and identify when to elevate high‑risk concerns to the news director (or delegate)
- Troubleshoot technical issues on the fly – all while you’re vetting scripts and keeping an eye out for breaking news
