We currently have an exciting opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our Laboratory department.
Under the direction of the Chief Medical Technologist, performs laboratory work and related duties in the field of Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Accessioning, Phlebotomy, and Quality Control Management.
Chetwynd General Hospital is a five acute care bed hospital, with seven long-term beds. Services include emergency, medical inpatient, palliative care, primary care nursing, home support and respiratory therapy.
Chetwynd is located in the foothills of the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains with a population of 3100. Qualfications • Must be CSMLS certified in Medical Laboratory Technology and hold current registration with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS). • Must have three to four years’ post Registered Technologist experience as a Medical Technologist in all disciplines of the laboratory. • Supervisory training and experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities: • Ability to be accurate in the performance of duties. Must have keen perception and good judgment. • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. • Demonstrated ability to deal with others effectively in a team environment. • Ability to work without direct supervision. • Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment. • Ability to modify existing procedures when necessary. • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. • Ability to organize work. • Ability to work under pressure. • Ability to orientate new staff and supervise. • Demonstrated ability with all aspects of quality control and quality assurance. • Knowledge and proficiency with computers including email word, excel and keyboarding skills.
