Job description

Brandt Group of Companies is currently looking for a skilled Millwright to join our team in Saskatoon, Sk.

The Millwright is responsible for assembly, installation, and repair of machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other specifications.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations, and compliances.
  • Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Dismantle, repair, and assemble industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to specifications.
  • Operate hoisting devices to position machinery and parts during assembly, installation, and/or repair activities.
  • Test and provide constructive feedback on existing and newly manufactured industrial equipment.
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair malfunctioning machinery and equipment.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery.
  • Prepare electronic inspection and service reports.
  • Train and mentor apprentices and other staff on Industrial Repair practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Five years practical experience in the millwright trade
  • Journeyperson’s certification from a recognized trade school, not required but is considered a major asset
  • Strong ability to teach and train apprentices and other staff as required
  • Knowledge and execution of workplace safety, safe rigging & hoisting practices
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills
  • Demonstrates a strong customer service orientation and is able to communicate with customers as required
  • Show initiative in learning about our products and customers
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to read schematics, engineered drawings and other technical diagrams
  • Critical eye for identifying defects and a high attention to detail
  • Commitment to safety and quality
  • Ability to readily determine the correct tools and equipment needed to do a job
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
  • Ability to lift heavy up to 50 pounds, walk and or stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical activity
