Job Title :
Mental Health Registered Practical Nurse
Reports To : Regional Director of Care Experience
Location : In-person in community or facility
Position Type : Fulltime, Permanent
Job Summary :
As Mental Health Registered Practical Nurse you will be responsible for conducting patients’ needs assessments and delivering nursing care to the patients, while providing person and family-centred care in community and / or facility settings, throughout the use of knowledge, skills, compassion, respect, and dignity.
Qualifications :
- A regulated health professional RPN in good standing with CNO
- Preferably 2-3 years of experience in mental health nursing
- Completion of ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) is an asset
- Knowledge of mental illness, suicidal behaviors, crisis interventions, and current mental health practices and treatments
- Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act and Substitute Decisions Act
- Strong time management skills, confidentiality and professionalism
- Excellent communicator, able to foster relationships with Home Care Staff and clients
- Ability to work independently and work effectively within a team environment
- Interest in continuous learning – high energy and focused
- Current CPR-C / BLS certification
- Police Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- 2 Steps of Tuberculosis (TB) Test and Immunizations ( up to date)
- Valid drivers license is an asset
