Build Nova Scotia's Corporate Services Division requires a student for the summer of 2025. Working closely with the department's staff responsible for document control, the student will gain practical experience and knowledge of working in a provincial government records management environment.ResponsibilitiesUnder supervision of the Coordinator, Administrative Services, as the summer student your responsibilities will include : Accurately enter data records into the agency's records management system.Checks work to ensure complete and accurate to minimize errors and duplication of work.Classify agency records according to the approved records retention schedules, STAR / STOR.Review inventory and prepare records for off-site storage and / or final disposition (destruction).Search and retrieve files for agency staff on request and return files to the system in a timely fashion.Organize historical agency records in preparation for transfer to the off-site storage.Use scanning equipment to digitize documents.Upload documents to specific electronic storage areas.Complete other inventory or process improvement tasks as required.Working Conditions : Normal work week hours are 35 hours / week, 7 hours / day.The successful candidate must be able to lift boxes of documents weighing up to 25 lbs.Additional Information : This opportunity will start approximately May 1, 2025 with an end date of August 29, 2025.The hourly rate of pay varies depending on educational level.Interested applicants are encouraged to apply online by February 10, 2025.We thank all applicants for their interest, however only those selected for interviews will be contacted.QualificationsThe ideal candidate is currently enrolled in a records management, archival or library program, and returning to school in the fall 2025. Students enrolled in other post-secondary programs are also encouraged to apply.Candidates should possess a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, display strong organizational and analytical skills, and be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
