The Medical Laboratory programming area isrecruiting for a temporary full-time Educational Technologist position tosupport our student labs.
The position isresponsible for laboratory support in the overall program delivery in MedicalLaboratory programming. The position will procure specimens, create and modifyin-house procedures, maintain equipment and inventory for student labs.This position will work within a team of Educational Technologists and directlywith program Instructors and Instructional Assistants to support andaide in the success of student labs.
Theremay be opportunities to support the Medical Laboratory Assisting program in theevenings.
KeyResponsibilities :
Create and prepare samples and resources forlaboratory sessions
Create and maintain in-house procedures / documents forlaboratory and sample preparation
Collaborate with team members and other departments toensure laboratory success
Set up and take down of laboratory resources andequipment as required
Maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate laboratoryequipment / instrumentation to manufacturers’ standards in compliance withprogram specifications
Maintain accurate records of, and communicate all maintenanceservice calls and follow-up
Provide advanced operating, troubleshooting, andmaintenance support to the programs
Perform quality control procedures
Ensure work area and lab spaces are in a safe andclean condition
Assist in the ordering and sourcing of supplies andexpendable items, and maintain related inventory records
Actively participate in business plan objectives asidentified by the institute and school
Utilize regular feedback to identify and implementimprovements
Engage in professional development activities
Attend staff meetings
Skills& Abilities :
Initiative and ability to work independently
Strong oral and written communication
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong time management and organizational skills
Knowledge ofcomputers and use of Microsoft suite of programs
Ability to lift 20- 45 lbs. unassisted
Ability to stand and walk for 7.25 hours
Ability to physically perform standard medicallaboratory work
Ability to work flexible hours and assignments
A solid working knowledge in a clinical setting,safety standards, and equipment operations and maintenance in the medicallaboratory field
Qualifications :
A minimum of a Diploma in Medical LaboratoryTechnology from a recognized post-secondary institute
A minimum of 2-5 years of related experience ispreferred
Must be registered or eligible for registrationwith the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA)
Applicants witheducation credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentialsevaluated by World Education Services or the International QualificationsAssessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration : $59,603.44- $79,497.34 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification –Educational Laboratory Technologist III).
Thisposition is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE)Collective Agreement.
