BC Cancer – Prince George Cancer Centre

Prince George, BC

Join the BC Cancer team as a Medical Oncologist in the heart of British Columbia.  The city of Prince George has a small-town vibe, with big-city amenities, a strong sense of community, and all with a cost of living that is roughly 30% less than other BC cities. Explore the city’s vibrant cultural scene, shopping, restaurants, breweries, a winery, exciting nightlife, and outdoor recreation. The city boasts easy access to breathtaking mountains, 1600 lakes (within an hour drive), and an amazing network of hiking and biking trails. It’s a short flight from the Prince George Airport to the Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, or Victoria Airports, not to mention access to major provincial Highways 16 and 97 which connect the city to Vancouver and Edmonton, offering another option for the business or leisure traveller. Whether you're seeking adventure, a close-knit community, or affordable living, Prince George welcomes you with open arms and promises a fulfilling lifestyle.

BC Cancer is looking for a Medical Oncologist to join BC Cancer’s newest Cancer Centre. This site has a great collaboration with Northern Health including University Hospital of Northern BC, a tertiary hospital, on site and with the UBC Northern Medical Program with excellent opportunities for teaching. The Centre offers a full range of services in Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Palliative Care and support services such as Nutrition, Clinical Trials and Patient and Family Counseling.

As a Medical Oncologist you will use your extensive experience and qualifications to provide oncology consultation, patient care, teaching, and research. Working with a team of specialized medical oncologists at the Centre, you will participate exclusively in the care of Oncology patients. The Centre has an in-house Research and Clinical Trials Unit, which is currently conducting national and international level radiation trials.

As the successful candidate, you will have obtained, or are working towards, Fellowship standing in the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada in Internal Medicine, along with a certificate of Special Competence in Medical Oncology. You must also be eligible for licensing with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of British Columbia and meet the requirements of credentialing by the Professional Advisory Committee of BC Cancer. In addition, you should be eligible for a clinical appointment in the Division of Medical Oncology in the Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia and for appointment to the medical staff at University Hospital of Northern British Columbia. You must be eligible for a valid license to practice medicine in Canada.
