Work setting

- Advise clients of their legal rights and all matters related to law
- Perform administrative functions related to the practice of law
- Plead clients' cases before courts of law, tribunals and boards (lawyers only)
- Draw up legal documents and prepare statements of legal opinion
- Negotiate settlements of civil disputes (lawyers only)
- Represent interests of corporation / employer in all business related to legal matters
- Offer mediation, conciliation and arbitration services
- Supervise professional, para-legal and support staff and articling students
- Research legal precedents and gather evidence
- Represent clients before administrative tribunals
- Advise clients on legal proceedings
