Job description

Re: Function Health Group is seeking a part-time Kinesiologist to join our team of professionals in our Customized Recovery and Return to Work (CRRTW) Program in Surrey. The position would be 5 days (Monday - Friday), 9:30 am – 2:30 pm, with the opportunity to add more hours.

Start Date: ASAP

What You'll Be Doing:

We are looking for an individual with the skills and energy to assist clients who have sustained a variety of work-related injuries. The Kinesiologist will work in a Customized Recovery and Return to Work (CRRTW) Program, alongside Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Counsellors, and Physicians. The goal of the program is to support injured workers through their rehabilitation journey and return to work.

The role of the Kinesiologist includes but is not limited to:

  • Perform evidence-based assessments using specific impairment measures.
  • Be a strong advocate of exercise therapy, effective coaching, and promoting client independence. We have a state-of-the-art performance gym to really challenge and help our clients.
  • Analyze assessment findings to create suitable exercise regimens and work-oriented goals.
  • Provide timely written and/or verbal communication of assessment findings and treatment outcomes.
  • Provide ongoing group and individualized education to clients.
  • Active participation in regular team conferences involving injured workers and members of the interdisciplinary teams.
  • Perform pre-employment physical and functional testing as well as drug and alcohol screening.

What You Need to Be Successful:

For the current employment opportunity, we request candidates to have 12 months of experience providing active rehabilitation or strength and conditioning programming. Training and mentorship are available for candidates who do not quite meet the requirements.

  • University Degree in Kinesiology or Human Kinetics.
  • Member in good standing with BCAK.
  • Professional Liability Insurance of at least $2 million per occurrence.
  • Ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team, as well as independently.
  • Have excellent clinical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong computer, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel to various job sites around the Lower Mainland.

Who We Are:

Re: Function Health Group is an established firm with 5 clinics in the Lower Mainland, 2 clinics on Vancouver Island, and 1 clinic in the Okanagan. We provide functional capacity evaluations, cognitive capacity evaluations, vocational consulting (return to work planning, ergonomics, and job demands analyses), occupational rehabilitation, and community health services (PT, OT, Counselling) to employers, WSBC, ICBC, LTD carriers, the provincial Work BC network, lawyers, and the public. Our company continues to grow to meet the demand for our services as we are fortunate to have long-term contracts and relationships with key fee payers in the province.

Our clinicians enjoy flexible work hours and healthy remuneration. We have an established mentoring program and provide research assistance as any clinical case requires. Our practice group is successful given our evidence-based methodology, collegial process, and enjoyable social milieu. Our staff retention is high, with many experienced clinicians available to help you develop professional skills, expertise, and innovative practice.

Who You'll Work With:

We are a dynamic group of like-minded clinicians, namely Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Kinesiologists, Psychologists, and Physicians. Our values include Care (therapeutic alliances with our clients), Clarity (objective evidence-based functional measures), and Collaboration (teamwork). We believe we are better together; as done well, teamwork is less about work and more about positive trajectory. You will have ample opportunity to mix with clinicians from a variety of backgrounds who can share their experience(s) with you.

If you feel you have the penchant to assess and assist clients with their work or community-related functions, then we can assist you in developing the skills and methodology to become a successful clinician in the vocational/community rehabilitation field. We look forward to the opportunity to meet with you and discuss our opportunity further.

We invite you to visit our website at www.refunction.ca. If you are interested in exploring this opportunity, please email an introductory letter and your CV to apply@refunction.ca.
