Job description
In this dynamic and results-oriented environment, you will take action by delivering client-centered disability solutions in the insurance industry.

As a Disability Case Manager, you will play a key role within the client service team, proactively overseeing assigned disability claims disability claims (STD, LTD and Life Waiver). This involves assessing medical information and job responsibilities, creating effective case management strategies, and developing return-to-work plans to support individuals during their disability period.

Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Location: EDMONTON (Hybrid: 1–2 days in-office, 3–4 days work from home)

Compensation: $70,000– $75,000 annually (depending on experience) + Annual Bonus Program

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE : 2+ years Experience in health, wellness, disability claims, life/health insurance, injury claims
Minimum 2+ years of professional experience or specialized training in one of the following fields:

- Health, Wellness & Rehabilitation: Experience working as a Kinesiologist, Sports Medicine/Rehab Specialist, Mental Health Worker, or Crisis Intervention Specialist.
- Disability & Life/Health Insurance: Prior experience working with major insurance providers or third-party administrators managing Short-Term Disability (STD), Long-Term Disability (LTD), or Life Waiver claims.
-Workers' Compensation & Injury Claims: Experience coordinating injury claims, occupational health files, or return-to-work programs (e.g., WCB,

-Core Competencies & Transferable Skills Required:
-Information Gathering & Interviewing: Proven ability to conduct structured interviews and gather comprehensive medical, personal, and job-requirement data from clients, employers, and healthcare providers.
- Evaluating Functional Abilities: Experience reviewing medical documentation and physician reports to contrast an individual's physical or mental restrictions against their specific workplace duties.
- Return-to-Work Coordination: Experience collaborating directly with employers, HR teams, or intervention specialists (like Rehab Consultants) to design and monitor early, modified, or graduated return-to-work plans.
-Resilience & High-Volume Management: Ability to confidently manage a growing portfolio of claims (scaling up to 80–90 active cases) in a fast-paced environment while meeting strict deadlines.

-Communication & Emotional Intelligence : Exceptional active listening and empathy skills, with the confidence and professional diplomacy needed to navigate highly sensitive, emotional, or confrontational conversations.


Security Requirement: Government of Canada Reliability Clearance :

Candidate must further satisfy the following criteria to be eligible for the role:
- Have status to work in Canada at the time of application
- Successfully complete the enhanced government screening process
- Pass a criminal background check
- Pass a credit check
- Pass a reliability clearance check, which requires applicants to have maintained 5 continuous years of residency in Canada at the time of application. This requirement is not dependent upon your immigration, residency, or citizenship status.

Responsibilities
-Manage a portfolio of disability claims, ensuring timely and accurate case handling.
-Evaluate medical documentation to determine claim eligibility and next steps.
-Provide compassionate support to employees dealing with challenging and traumatic experiences.
-Communicate effectively with claimants, healthcare providers, and internal teams.
-Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
-Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive information related to disability status and claims.

Qualifications
- 2+ years Experience in health, wellness, disability claims, life/health insurance, injury claims .
- Strong listening and communication skills in English and French FLUENT
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment with attention to detail
- Workes well under pressure and handle sensitive/confidential cases
- Managing complex situations with professionalism and care
- Organizational skills
