Modify / monitor meals in accordance with diets and changes in health status, as recommended and monitored by the Clinical Dietitian or physician.
Provide, review and reinforce diet instruction.
Conduct audits to ensure accuracy of diet orders, preference lists, and trays. Observe changes in eating habits and bring any changes or concerns to the attention of the Clinical Dietitian.
Provide an introduction / overview of the food services system to residents, families and caregivers.
Participate in departmental monthly department QA, projects, and collaborate with departmental quality and service improvement initiatives
Qualifications include but are not limited to :
Graduated from an approved Dietary Technician diploma program, Food & Nutrition Management or recognized equivalent is required
Member of Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (‘CSNM’)
Completion of a Food Handler’s certification
Two (2) years related clinical experience in a large health care facility
Previous experience working with a geriatric population would be an asset
Experience in direct care, nutrition screening diet modification and patient education
Experience in a computerized diet office environment
Intermediate computer skills and the ability to work with Microsoft Office software
Knowledge of Computrition systems
Knowledge of Meditech software would be an asset
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Good organizational and analytical skills
Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with geriatric patients who may have varying stages of dementia
