Southbridge Care Homes owns and operates 26 Long-Term Care Homes and 8 Retirement Homes throughout many urban and rural areas of Ontario. Southbridge Care Homes is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner to deliver labour relations support and expertise to our portfolio of LTC and Retirement homes. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the individual will demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and passion for senior care by delivering high-quality leadership support to our homes.
This role is a primarily labour relations focused role.
Responsibilities :
Demonstrates leadership and influence on decision makers by coaching and advising on legal and compliance matters, ensuring adherence to all relevant legislation, best practices, policies and procedures, and the Collective Agreement.
Provides expert guidance and support to management and employees on labour relations matters, including grievance handling, contract interpretation, disciplinary actions, and dispute resolution.
Conducts investigations and recommend appropriate actions in response to employee complaints, grievances, and disciplinary matters, ensuring fairness and adherence to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
Supports the negotiation and administration of collective bargaining agreements, collaborating with union representatives, legal counsel, and senior management to ensure fair and equitable agreements that align with the company's objectives.
Collaborates with stakeholders in the development, recommendation, and implementation of labour and employee relations strategy.
Acts as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, offering HR expertise and guidance on a wage range of HR issues, including performance management, employee development, compensation, and benefits.
Partners with the HR team to develop and deliver training programs related to labour relations, HR policies and procedures, promoting a culture of compliance and employee development.
Travel as required throughout Ontario, a reliable vehicle is a must.
Qualifications :
Post-secondary degree in Human Resources and / or Labour Relations is an asset.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Human Resource Business Partner or similar role in a unionized environment.
Demonstrated progressive related experience with a strong background in labour relations.
Demonstrated ability to navigate complex labour relations issues, resolve conflicts, and build positive working relationships with union representatives, management, and employees.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess situations, identify root causes and develop practical solution.
Thorough knowledge of employment and labour relations legislation, including the Ontario Employment Standards Act, Labour Relations Act, and Ontario Human Rights Code
