Director of Financial Reporting

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Director of Financial Reporting to join their team in Calgary on a 14-month contract. The successful individual will play a key role in overseeing the preparation and communication of financial information and sustainability metrics for internal and external stakeholders. This position requires a combination of financial expertise, sustainability knowledge, and excellent communication skills to drive accurate and transparent reporting aligned with organizational goals.

Your success will be defined by your ability to :

  • Lead the preparation and analysis of financial statements in compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Collaborate with finance teams to provide insights into financial performance and trends.
  • Develop and manage the organization's sustainability reporting framework, aligning with recognized standards such as GRI, SASB, or other relevant frameworks.
  • Integrate financial and sustainability reporting to provide a comprehensive view of the organization's performance.
  • Develop narratives that articulate the connection between financial and sustainability metrics to enhance stakeholder understanding.
  • Communicate financial and sustainability performance to internal and external stakeholders, including shareholders, regulatory bodies, and sustainability rating agencies.
  • Work closely with legal and compliance teams to address reporting requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve financial and sustainability reporting processes.
  • Lead and develop a team of professionals responsible for financial and sustainability reporting.

Your strengths include :

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field
  • CPA required.
  • Substantial experience in financial reporting, sustainability reporting, or a combination of both.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and sustainability frameworks.
  • Excellent knowledge of regulatory requirements related to financial and sustainability reporting.
