The Saskatchewan Urban Native Teacher Education Program (SUNTEP) – Gabriel Dumont Institute of Native Studies and Applied Research invites applications for the following position :
Competition Code : 2504 100S 193.3 Nov 17 INTERNAL / EXTERNAL
Responsibilities : SUNTEP Saskatoon requires a sessional instructor for HIST 193.3 for the 2026 Winter Term. Courses offered under this heading examine focused topics in Canadian History. Courses explore historical issues, events, or trends of importance in Canadian history. This course studies the history of North America – Turtle Island – from time immemorial to the establishment of European settler societies in the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. The course explores various sources for studying ancient history : archaeological, artistic, and experiential evidence as well as documents, landscapes, and oral histories. This course’s Indigenous-centered perspectives challenge conventional histories of colonialism, focusing on human migrations, economic expansions, and cultural developments. This class will be delivered in-person and on campus in Saskatoon.
The assignment would involve planning, preparation and delivery of appropriate course instruction to students. Manage classroom activities to ensure an optimum learning environment for students. Evaluate student performance and provide consistent feedback. Awareness and implementation of culturally responsive approaches is an asset
Qualifications : Candidate must possess a Master’s of Education preferably Master’s of History and / or equivalent combination of training and experience in the content area and be approved by the University of Saskatchewan. Strong interpersonal and communication
skills, flexibility and the ability to work with Indigenous student populations are an asset.
Remuneration : U of S Sessional Lecturer wage grid
Location : U of S Campus Saskatoon, SK
