University of TorontoOntario, CanadaDutiesThe Teaching assistant will be required to hold in-person tutorials in the course twice a week, meet with students during regular office hours and respond to students’ inquiries in person and in writing. They will be required to grade and offer students detailed feedback on assignments, tests and exams as well as invigilate exams. May involve course support services (such as updating course content and information on Quercus). They will be expected to engage with students with diverse needs and experiences in a professional and supportive manner that improves the teaching and learning experience for all students, and to foster an interactive and collaborative classroom dynamic. Other duties as determined by supervisor. Minimum Qualifications Successful applicants will be in an MA or PhD program in the Centre for Medieval Studies, History or a related discipline. Have solid prior knowledge and understanding of the subject matter as demonstrated through current research, previous coursework, or previous TA / GA placements in similar or related courses. Please note that both the availability of the teaching assistant position and the frequency of tutorial meetings are entirely dependent on course enrollments. The final decision regarding the offer and how often tutorials will meet will be based on the number of students enrolled.In-person lectures / tutorials will be taking place between May 2 to June 16. The final exam can be scheduled anytime between June 17 - 21, 2025. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in leading tutorials and / or marking assignments and exams as well as strong organizational skills.Relevant CriterionPrevious experience is the more relevant criterion than the need to acquire experience in respect of this posted position.
