DESIGNATED EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR (DECE) - Temporary We are inviting applications for a Temporary Designated Early Childhood Educator (DECE). The DECE reports to the Principal and partners with the classroom teacher to plan and implement learning programs enhancing our students' cognitive, physical, social and emotional development. This position provides supervision and age appropriate learning programs for students. This temporary position will be available on February 24, 2025 until June 27, 2025 at Holy Name of Mary School in St. Marys, Ontario and works 35 hours Monday-Friday.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES : Partnering with the classroom teacher, develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of childrenLead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, taking children to local points of interest and providing opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activityPlan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of childrenAssess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with the classroom teacherObserve children for signs of potential learning or behavioural concerns and prepare reports as requiredGuide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habitsAct in a manner consistent with the professional requirements related to all aspects of their work.QUALIFICATIONS A minimum of a two (2) year college diploma in Early Childhood Education or related field is required.Registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators (OCECE)A minimum of two (2) years experience working in a school, early learning center, educational setting or registered childcare is required.Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCVI) training is an asset.Knowledge of the Ministry of Education full day early learning programDemonstrated experience with age appropriate programsKnowledge of the early acquisition of literacy and numerical skillsExperience with classroom managementGood verbal and written communication skillsPatience, empathy, and the ability to work closely with students with complex needsAbility to maintain strict confidentiality and discretionComputer skills including Google Workspace.Ability to attend work on a regular basis.If you are interested in this position : Individuals wishing to apply for this position are asked to submit their application through Apply to Education.
