Homework Health Educator

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB : Educators in the Homework Health program provide tutoring / homework support through a drop-in homework help program. They provide academic support to students based on expertise and knowledge based on the Ontario curriculum. Educators employ teaching and learning strategies in accordance with the Universal Design for Learning and best teaching practice.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Uphold the Mission of CDL and its programs and services while conducting oneself in a professional manner as a representative of the organization
- Create a positive learning environment that encourages relationship-building between the students, and yourself
- All educators must arrive at least 15 minutes before their session is scheduled to begin and remain available up to 15 minutes after each session for in-person sessions
- Provide small group tutoring sessions to students in various subjects, including math, science, and other subjects as needed
- Help students improve their understanding of concepts, problem-solving skills, and study habits
- Assist students with homework assignments and test preparation
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the centre manager
- Proficiency in computer skills and ability to utilize educational software and online resource
- Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and concise manner;
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
QUALIFICATIONS :
Eligible candidates for the position include individuals who have earned a post-secondary degree and / or are an Ontario Certified Teacher and have :

WORKING CONDITIONS :
Homework Health Tutors are required to work in-person within the program schedule, understanding they must be available within the hours of 3 : 00PM – 8 : 00PM, from Monday to Friday.
