Job description

This position is responsible for advising and processing of absence and short-term accommodation claims forAssociates (occupational and non-occupational), communicating with the applicable agencies / vendors in a timely manner with regular follow up. Ensures safe and timely return to work by partnering with Management and Operations to establish and monitor return to work plans for routine injury or illness

accommodation needs. This is a hybrid role with 2 days in the office.

Contractual - 4 months with potential to convert to permanent based on performance

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and communicate Company expectations for temporary occupational and non-occupational claims and

short-term accommodations, including related administration, facilitation and record retention with internal and

external partners (i.e. Human Resources departments and i.e. Insurance Carriers / Third Party Providers).

  • Demonstrate sensitivity and effectiveness in communicating with ill or injured Associates and Associates with
  • disabilities.

  • Develops appropriate medically-supported return to work plans and short-term accommodations for Associates
  • with illness / injury and or disability, who can be accommodated within their own occupations and / or when a return

    to regular duties is expected in less than three months. Communicates work plans / agreements to ensure a

    safe and sustainable return to work for Associates.

  • Demonstrates ability to effectively manage competing priorities.
  • Provides direction to, seeks counsel from, and works with, other Associates and benefits / third party vendors to
  • monitor and document cooperation in absence and accommodation cases. Communicate expectations with

    Human Resources, Managers and Associates if an Associate is not cooperating with TJX Canada programs.

  • Provide guidance and counsel to Associates regarding the claims management program, and escalates to
  • leadership for complex claims / accommodations.

  • Partner with Health & Safety team, Human Resources teams, HR Shared Services team, Store / Field Operations
  • teams, and Union Representatives, as appropriate.

  • Accurately maintain and update in a timely manner the systems database and record retention for all related
  • claims, in accordance with Company reporting needs and legislative governance.

  • Coordinate third party assessments with vendors (i.e. independent medical examinations, functional
  • abilities / capabilities evaluations, ergonomic assessments, ergonomic job coaching, job site analysis, physical /

    cognitive demands profiles etc.) for Associates and their People Leaders, and document the outcomes of those

    assessments.

    Dimensions :

  • Manage end to end claims management process, managing an average of 60+ claims at a time
  • Collaborates regularly with People Leaders, HR Business Partners, HR Shared Services, Health & Safety,
  • Benefits & Well-being departments, and external vendors
  • Qualifications

  • Minimum one (1) year claims related work experience, with understanding of return to work principles;
  • preferably within retail and / or distribution / warehouse environment

  • Experienced with workers compensation, human rights legislation and / or short and long term disability practices
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills; English / French bilingualism an asset
  • Strong problem solving skills including analysis of information to effectively resolve issues and implement
  • solutions

  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize competing tasks and documenting detailed case management files
  • Informal influence skills including providing advice and guidance to team members to resolve problems; discuss
  • and share best practices

  • Strong sense of confidentiality; requires discretion and thorough knowledge of the organization’s operations,
  • procedures and policies

  • Must have a valid Driver's License and access to a vehicle in order to attend off-site meetings and mediations.
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, vendor portals, and case management
  • systems

    Only the candidates with a minimum of 1 year of claims management experience will be considered.
