Unit Summary
The surgical team at the Juravinski Campus provides peri-operative care to a critical and acute adult patient population. In this exciting and dynamic environment our team supports tertiary and regional programs providing both inpatient and same day surgery and is the host hospital for the Regional Cancer Centre.
Position Summary
As a member of the healthcare team, provides clinical support by participating in select patient care activities. Supports patient care through equipment and supply management and maintenance of a clean, safe environment.The HCA provides unit support to patients, families and those providing service and/or care. Functions according to the job description for HCA in PACU.

Qualifications
1. Completion of Personal Support Worker or Healthcare Aide Certificate or nursing student with successful completion of all level 2 courses at McMaster University or nursing student with successful completion of all level 2 courses in McMaster University and Mohawk College collaborative program or nursing student with successful completion of all level 1 courses in the Mohawk College Diploma program
2.Current Heart and Stroke Foundation courses in CPR
3. Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role within a health care environment
4. Computer familiarity or willingness to learn computer skills as required
5. Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, teamwork skills
6. Demonstrated initiative and judgment appropriate for the position
7. Ability to accept assigned or delegated functions, set priorities and organize work accordingly.

8. Working knowledge of Universal Precautions and WHIMIS
9. Ability to deal with various hospital departments effectively and collaboratively
10. Ability to lift using appropriate lifting techniques and bend, push and pull using good body mechanics
