Position Title : Group Underwriter - Group Quotes
Reports To : Manager, Group Quotes
Department : Group Quotes
Term : Permanent Full-Time
Work Arrangements : This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.
The Opportunity : Equitable is growing! We are looking for an Underwriter to join our Group Insurance team! The position is critical to our success and is a great opportunity to work at one of Waterloo Area's and Southwestern Ontario's Top Employers while developing skills for the future.
What you will be doing :
- Underwrite group benefits requests
- Screen group requests to request missing information, clarify specifications and assess the risk involved in order to select quality business
- Set final rates through experience rating and considering all other characteristics of the risk
- Negotiate final rates with Group Account Executives and Advisors
- Take appropriate action on requests for special rate reviews, and effectively communicate final decisions
