Devereux is in need of Direct Support Professionals to work with our kids while they are out of school for the summer. Your school may even give you internship credit for this job!

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health - Massachusetts is located in Rutland, MA, serving students with complex mental health and behavioral challenges. This position is responsible for the safety and security of all youth as assigned and provides therapeutic interventions in a compassionate and safe environment.

Qualifications

Schedule :

Full Time : Monday-Friday 7a-3p

Part-Time : Monday-Friday 9a-3p

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) or high school diploma with relevant human services experience required. Academic studies in psychology, sociology, social work, and education are highly desirable.
  • Previous experience preferred (not required) working with individuals under 21 with psychological, emotional, and behavioral disorders, complex PTSD, co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, and / or autism spectrum disorders.
  • Driver’s license is required.

  • Be empathetic, a team player, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be energetic and creative, understand behavior management and positive reinforcement theories, and serve as a positive role model.
  • Be able to complete required new hire orientation classes.
  • Have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adolescents with special needs.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.

    • Physical Requirements : Significant walking, sitting, and standing. Some lifting and resistance management, including physical intervention techniques up to 75-100 lbs. or more. Repetitive wrist / hand movements, normal hearing and vision. Occasional use of computers and office equipment. Occasional driving of Devereux vehicles. Ability to meet 100% mastery of Safe and Positive Approaches.

    Work Environment : Mostly indoor work in well-lit, ventilated areas. Temperature fluctuations possible. Use of protective equipment such as gloves, masks, eyewear, and gowns. Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Physical involvement in Safe and Positive Approaches exercises.
