About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager of Planning and Evaluation, Mental Health and Addictions, the Quality Management Coordinator (QMC) is Involved in activities related to planning, developing and delivering research and evaluation activities occurring in Mental Health and Addictions, Nova Scotia Health Authority
Specifically, the QMC initiates and supports evaluation and research into mental health and addictions through:
- The utilization of the mental health and addictions information management systems
- Coordinates and organizes program evaluations involving surveys, focus groups, and other data collection methods, or through research and evaluation initiatives taken on to explore promising areas of prevention or treatment for clients and families, often in collaboration with outside agencies such as Dalhousie University
- The acquisition, appraisal and synthesis of academic and grey literature to provide guidance and up to date information about best practices in research and evaluation in the clinical delivery of services
- Preparation and management of databases for data collection during studies and evaluations
- Writing of reports summarizing research and program evaluation findings for internal use but also those that may be suitable for distribution throughout the provincial health authority and sharing with other government departments.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- MSc in Statistics, Biostatistics, Health Informatics or Health Science/Social Science (including graduate level training in research design and statistical analysis) or an equivalent combination of experience
- Minimum 3 years related work experience including applied analytic activities related to program development and evaluation, or continuous quality improvement
- Expert level knowledge and skills related to data linkage, data analysis, statistical manipulation, interpretation, and knowledge translation, using information from multiple source systems to effectively prepare information to meet the needs of the stakeholders
- Experience in program and service development, implementation and evaluation required
- Demonstrates high degree of independent decision-making, self-direction, motivation, change management knowledge and team building/leadership skills
- Demonstrated experience in the application of word processing, spreadsheet, database, graphics, statistical analysis and reporting software and tools
- Demonstrated expertise and understanding of mental health and addiction information systems considered an asset
- Demonstrated experience in using Business Intelligence tools and software an asset
- Knowledge of the Canadian Institute of Health Information and associated databases
- Knowledge of MIS Standards an asset
- Experience in using and reporting from large datasets
- Experience with Literature reviews, ethics and data collection techniques
- Demonstrated experience dealing with multiple deadlines/projects
- Competencies in other languages preferred, French an asset

Hours
- Permanent, Full Time Position; 75 Hours Bi Weekly
- This position will be mainly work from home, and primary location will depend on new hire geographical location
Compensation and Benefits
$35.79 - $44.97 Hourly
